Are you interested in understanding and resolving the impact of trauma or distress?

I would love to tell you more about Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), a solution focused approach with immediate results. It is very similar to a process you might have heard of called EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). It works by separating physiological sensations from a narrative or memory and replacing disturbing images with more helpful images.


ART is extremely effective. It is used to treat adults and children with depression, anxiety, phobias, panic attacks, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and many other mental and physical conditions resulting in remarkable benefits starting in as little as one session. Research has shown that it can reduce 75% of symptoms associated with traumatic stress.

How it works:

The easiest way to get in touch with me is via text message. Please feel free to message me with any questions about this therapy. Text message is a particularly helpful way to schedule an initial session. When we get in touch, we will schedule an intake session to determine if and how this tool might be useful to you. Then, if we decide to move forward, we will identify a “scene” or current problem that you would like to work on. An example might be: a car accident, a difficult relationship, or a painful memory from childhood. We would return to this scene or problem and help your body and mind release the associated memories. We work together to eliminate pictures and sensations that are causing distress.

Here’s what that looks like:

  • We can do this in person or on telehealth using eye movement software.

  • In person, I would move my chair closer to yours and hold my hand up. I show you how to engage in eye movement by asking you to follow my hand back and fourth with your eyes. 

  • We use these eye movements to help you locate and eliminate uncomfortable physical sensations associated with distressing memories or triggers. 

  • We communicate throughout the session to determine how your physical sensations change. Participants always report increased feelings of calm. 

  • ART works to reprogram the way in which distressing images and memories are stored in our brain, so that they no longer trigger strong physical and emotional reactions and eliminate negative images. 

  • While you will always have the knowledge of your experiences, ART promises to help you live without the pain of them by actually help you edit and change the images in your mind surrounding the memory. We often say “keep the knowledge, lose the pain.”

    The Results

  • The results are usually rather immediate and many issues can be resolved in 3-6 sessions. 

  • I typically recommend that we begin with a six week commitment where we can measure progress and determine specific goals.

The TedTalk describes a very effective session with someone who is managing symptoms of PTSD but this tool can be used for many different symptoms or challenges.
